Consumers of financial services face a major challenge in today’s business environment. If a firm offers primarily one service, typically that is the service they’ll recommend. Many of the major institutions have built their business models around investment management. A family may receive a cursory financial plan and then be ushered quickly into transferring assets. What if asset management wasn’t their primary need? If there’s a void in the service mix they’re receiving, who’s going to bring it to their attention? Large institutions can often execute in one arena, yet they don't necessarily have a process for helping a family identify their broader vision--the vision that should guide execution.
